- Register the warranty. It's not optional.
What I'd do the same: choose a system with a local service network. What I'd do differently: ask for the labor warranty in writing.
This experience changed my view of the HVAC industry. It's not stuck in the past. The equipment is smarter, the warranties are more transparent, and the buyer's job is harder because there's more to understand. But some things remain old-school: a radiator still needs to be bled, a fan still moves air, and the difference between a good price and a good project is usually in the details.
Do I know everything about heat pumps now? No. But I know where to look, what to ask, and how to bleed a radiator. For an office administrator, that's a pretty good month.
